Esther Jobrack watercolors are executed in transparent colors. The watercolor paper 100% rag, and is most often medium heavy weight cold press, and rough. The painting might start with an under painting, to establish the placement of shadows, and add a special luminosity. Watercolor glazing is sometimes used to give a depth to a sky or to have complete control over the blending of a sun rise.
Many other times Esther stands back and holds the brush toward the back end, using the whole arm to express a wild emotion with full spontaneous expression. Sometimes watercolor paint is allowed to flow and ebb on the paper and show how it wants the story to be told.
